Why You Should Be Planning Your Getaway to Paris Right Now

By Jacqueline Zenere | May 30, 2018 | Lifestyle

Our style director heads to the Left Bank for every fashionista’s dream “work trip.”

Traveling to the City of Lights for Paris Fashion Week is the Holy Grail for fashion editors. As one myself, I’ve long dreamed of attending in order to properly absorb the coming season’s influence and direction. Paris is the apex: It’s where the most influential designers and the sartorial greats debut their collections. Here, the likes of Dior, Saint Laurent, Chanel and Louis Vuitton converge. And I, along with seasoned showgoer Modern Luxury VP Creative/Fashion Director James Aguiar, have tickets in hand to each of the top shows.

My expectations are far surpassed, however, when we arrive at our private three-bedroom, two-bath Margaux apartment ($1,225 to $2,702 per night,, thanks to Paris Perfect, a luxury vacation concierge service. While many of our industry colleagues opt for the more-typical hotel experience, Aguiar and I seize the opportunity to slip into the life of a well-heeled Parisian for our weeklong stay in the exquisite Margaux apartment, which is nestled in the 7th arrondissement, only two blocks from the famous Rue Cler market street. We each have our own room, complete with everything you’d expect from a hautecouture rental service: a fluffy bed with sumptuous linens for us to sink into after 10-hour days at the shows, ceilings with intricate crown molding, an emeraldgreen door Claude Monet might have liked to paint, the most enviable view of the Eiffel Tower from our private balcony, and even a washer and a dryer—a save-all for how many events we attend.

The Paris Perfect team personally welcomes us upon arrival, offering a guide to the apartment and the neighborhood go-to’s. Our printed courtesy guide comes in handy later when we’re faced with the most pressing questions: Where can we find the best pistachio macaron nearby? Which of the pharmacies is where top international makeup artists stock up on beloved French beauty products? We feel like true insiders when discussing our accommodations among other showgoers and editors—a common topic of conversation prior to each show’s start.

To further our lavish experience, Paris Perfect goes beyond the expected— extending add-ons such as having a personal chef come in and cook for us and our guests, an insider tour of the city, as well as impossible-to-get reservations at a natives-only restaurant. Its concierge service was like having a well-connected Parisian on demand. Being a novice attendee of Paris Fashion Week, simply being in the city was a dream realized, but this apartment took it to the next level. The glittering Eiffel Tower light show framed outside my bedroom window each night is a view I will cherish forever.
