If you live in Los Angeles, chances are you’ve seen sidewalks and street corners crowded with electric scooters. But the e-transportation business has a new competitor. Its name is Wheels and here’s why they’re far better than a scooter.
The benefits of using these wireless, sleek electric bikes far outweigh the scooter craze. During the rise of dockless mobile transportation, serial entrepreneur brothers Jon and Josh Viner saw an opportunity to enhance the experience for the user.
For those who aren’t familiar or perhaps even wary of scooter-riding, the options are limited. With Wheels, you’re getting that same cost-effective option of transportation but instead with comfort, familiarity and more safety. Riders can feel confident sitting on the bicycle-like seat of a Wheels bike as they wait to cross an intersection versus having to dismount a scooter completely. The bikes will also come with helmets that attach to the back wheel of the bike, allowing the rider to maximize their overall safety.
Furthermore, the Wheels bikes are sustainable. The average lifespan of an electric scooter is no more than 30 days leaving them completely useless and unfixable after just one month. Wheels, however, has a set plan in motion that takes bikes in for repairs them rather than get rid of them all together, therefore giving each bike a lifespan of over one year.
Wheels is also creating new jobs that are much easier to maintain and more lucrative than competitors. Transporting the bikes isn’t about charging, getting up early, or physically straining yourself. It’s simpler. The job entails moving the bikes from point A to point B and there is no limit to how much a transporter can make.
Lastly, from the consumer standpoint, Wheels are the preferred choice of e-transportation. After 300 hours of research, a recent San Diego study stated that Wheels held 41 percent of consumers’ preference, surpassing Bird, Lime, Lyft and others.
Coming off the success of Wag, the number one dog-walking app, the Viner brothers now look forward to optimizing the e-transportation space with Wheels. By next month, Wheels will have reached over 1 million rides. The overall experience is comfortable, affordable, sustainable and even enjoyable.
