Attention skateboard fans: mark your calendars for the spring. From May 12-15, Tony Hawk’s Weekend Jam will take place in downtown Las Vegas.
Partnering with technology company Pollen, Tony Hawk will be host this event that celebrates the culture of skateboarding, live music, food and video games.
There will be a Vert Alert-inspired exhibition that will feature some of the best skateboarders from the X Games, like Andy Macdonald, Sandro Dias, Bucky Lasek and Rune Glifberg. Additional skateboarders include legends Christian Hosoi, Steve Caballero, Kevin Staab and Lizzie Armanto.
A full-fledged cultural experience, the event will also include artists that have influenced the sounds of the skate scene, such as Modest Mouse, DEVO, Descendents, Cold Cave, The Vandals, Rough Francis, The Downhill Jam and Warish, a horror punk-rock band led by Tony Hawk’s son Riley.
The weekend will kick off with a welcome party, skate contests and demos with an award ceremony to follow, hosted by none other than Hawk. After that, guests will be allowed to explore the event, get a delicious meal from the food trucks, spend some time at the Gaming Community Network lounge playing all the classics and browse in the skate shop for merchandise.
Tony Hawk’s Weekend Jam is sure to be an unforgettable experience full of skateboarding heroes and good times with fun people that share the passion for the sport.
A household name known for his four-decade professional skateboarding career, Hawk truly is one of the main trail burners that helped bring skateboarding into popularity. Despite his successful and record-breaking career, his organization, The Skatepark Project, is ultimately his most influential work. Donating a whopping $10 million to fund the development of 637 public skateparks, his leadership has helped get kids off the streets and into the life-changing sport.
