The great luxury of our oversaturated, inundated era? To be the first to experience... anything.
There’s so much been-there, done-that-ness in the ether that it’s quite something to be among the first to attend the inaugural Telluride Reserve Food & Wine Celebration August 15 to August 18. The four-day exclusive, upscale food and wine experience is limited to 500 guests. And the intimate lineup means that if you’re one of these pioneering attendees, expect to spend real time with a roundup of fascinating characters: Think noted winemakers (Tim and Carlo Mondavi), authors, chefs (Marc Murphy of Chopped and Daniel Patterson of Coi in San Francisco) and producers. For those seeking education, there are 10 one-hour Tastvin sessions each morning, including How to Blind Taste and Emerging Wine Regions of the United States. There are also 10 one-hour Afternoon Pour sessions, but the coup de grace may be the four-course Taste & Terroir Lunches, highlighting 17 wine regions hosted in 17 stunning private homes. Each luxurious assemblage is restricted to 30 guests, and hosted by a chef and winemaker who will lead you through food and wine pairings inspired by a terroir about which they are passionate. You must be the first one through the door for that!
