A limited release of only 500 bottles makes Courvoisier Mizunara one of the most exclusive cognac labels this summer. Courvoisier Mizunara encapsulates both French Oak as the initial barrel and finishes in Japanese Mizunara Oak casks.
Grand Champagne from the actual Cognac region cru is used during the making. Each bottle has a price point of $2,000 and is adorned with the Japanese Mizunara golden oak tree. The mahogany and golden tones of the cognac shine through the negative space to create a smooth and alluring appearance of both the cognac and the bottle.
Courvoisier Maison hosted a private dinner and tasting in Los Angeles to honor the completion of the Mizunara label. Complete with fresh cut floral arrangements and designs along with warm lighting at Harriet's Rooftop in Los Angeles, Calif. the event embodied much of the brands "joie de vivre" campaign elements which focus on finding the joy in life and celebrating with others.
Patrice Pinet as Courvoisier’s chief blender teamed up with Shinji Fukuyo, chief blender of the House of Suntory and together the pair combined cognac distillation processes and Japanese whisky making methods to create Courvoisier Mizunara. Pinet shares, “I have always been intrigued by the scarcity and uniqueness of Japanese Mizunara oak. [I'm] honored by the opportunity to work with the legendary wood and the incredibly talented Shinji Fukuyo of House of Suntory.”

Fukuyo mirrors this curiosity, “I have always been fascinated by experimenting with flavors through innovation, and I’m very excited to have taken part in the development of Courvoisier Mizunara and to help create something never before tasted.” By combining both Eastern and Western cultures as well as each of their expertise, Fukuyo and Pinet offer their fine crafted Courvoisier Mizunara to add to the offerings of Maison Courvoisier.
“I knew the Mizunara cask was an unconventional choice for Courvoisier. Together with Shinji, we saw the potential for the notoriously temperamental wood to enhance the unique characteristics of the exceptional cognac and complement the Maison’s signature floral House style,” says Pinet. Courvoisier Mizunara adds to the refined and distinguished line of Courvoisier Maison products.
