On the ground level of Mr. Coco, Francesco Lafranconi’s luxury cocktail lounge inside the Palms, a golden doorbell in the shape of a canine paw rings the hostess.
The deconstructed Irish coffee is one of many libations served at Mr. Coco, the luxury cocktail lounge tucked away in the Fantasy Tower of the Palms.
A serene hallway clears all senses, and a wall timepiece with no hands signals that time is about to stand still. Mr. Coco, named after founder and renowned mixologist Lafranconi’s beloved Westie, whisks guests to a semiprivate hideaway. The 47-seat lounge is an intentional immersion for all five senses, from the curated music to the delectable bites developed by executive chef Steve Benjamin, formerly of L’Atelier de Joël Robuchon. Luxurious comfort is punctuated by textural pleasures of the finest, from rich, blue velvet banquettes to Swarovski crystalstudded wallpaper and the double-threaded Egyptian cotton coasters. Illuminated cabinets showcase impressive vermouth and Champagne selections, brandies and rare spirits. Signature cocktails include Mr. Coco, a libation that naturally resembles the color of the canine mascot, Coco. Attention to detail matters most at Mr. Coco, down to the crystals that embellish the cocktail waitress’ gown. “Not just every square foot, but every square inch,” says Lafranconi, who has 18 years’ tenure in developing bars and restaurants worldwide. “There is a subliminal message that guests don’t always pay attention to, yet there will always be one element they will remember from Mr. Coco.” At least one.
