Giuseppe Zanotti marks his 20th anniversary with a capsule of classics that have a rock ’n’ roll edge.
Inspired by his musical memories, Giuseppe Zanotti has crafted a chic collection ready-made for a night in Las Vegas.
After 20 years in the design business, shoe tycoon Giuseppe Zanotti is marking his anniversary by summoning one of his greatest loves. For a new capsule collection with a rock ’n’ roll theme, Zanotti, whose footwear is favored by music-world luminaries like Jennifer Lopez and Nicki Minaj, is re-releasing a series of unforgettable designs inspired by his greatest musical muses. Sky-high and sexy, these shoes are ready-made for Las Vegas nights.
“Before I was a designer, I was a DJ for many years,” Zanotti says. “Music is my passion and constant source of inspiration. Music has the incredible power to transmit emotions and connect with people. I want my shoes to have that same impact on women. I want them to feel strong and beautiful.”

Each of the new line’s styles takes its cue from an aspect of Zanotti’s musical history. “The collection is made up of five different styles, each one signifying a memory, a musician, a song, or an artist that impacted my life,” he explains. The Muse, a crystal-encrusted black suede bootie, takes its name from the English alternative-rock band (their song “Starlight” was playing while Zanotti created the design in 2009), while Trapt is a knee-high gladiator boot decked out with buckles and chains that was inspired by one of Zanotti’s favorite groups. “Its style embodies the edgy spirit of Trapt’s music,” he says.
Other shoes in the collection recall his close friends. In 2002, Zanotti christened a towering sandal the MJ for Michael Jackson. “The pop legend has been a source of inspiration,” the designer says. “It was a great privilege to have known and collaborated with such an iconic star.” The alluring, chain-embellished Decarnin sandal is a tribute to former Balmain designer Christophe Decarnin, who worked with Zanotti for years and shares his love of “grunge-glam.” Perhaps the most buzzworthy piece is the Mrs. West, first worn by longtime Zanotti customer Kim Kardashian. “This peep-toe bootie was created for Kim upon Kanye’s advice during a visit to my factory,” he says.

For Zanotti, taking a walk down memory lane for his anniversary capsule was quite intentional. “It is important for me to remember those first steps in my career: being in New York, at The Plaza Hotel, with a budget of zero, showing my collection for the first time,” he explains. “I want to honor my humble beginning and many other moments I have had over the past 20 years.”

Zanotti—who was recently named 2014 Designer of the Year by footwear news—started out creating custom shoes for a celebrity clientele. He quickly broadened his scope while continuing to imbue his designs with Hollywood glamour. His company currently has 91 stores and still produces its shoes in his Italian hometown of San Mauro Pascoli. The brand now offers jewelry, handbags, accessories, men’s footwear, and limited-edition ready-to-wear collections for both men and women. This spring, Giuseppe Zanotti Design will roll out the G#15, its first signature shoe, featuring the cherished heelless silhouette. The G#15 is a companion to the G#17 purse, released last year.
With a career full of highlights, Zanotti could have marketed this anniversary in any number of ways, but for him, there was only one choice. “Rock ’n’ roll is in my DNA,” he says, “and is, of course, my favorite story to tell.” the forum shops at caesars, 702-866-0055
