Over the past 13 years, Vegas Uncork’d has taken its place as one of the city’s most high-profile food events, thanks to a partnership between the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority and Conde Nast, publishers of iconic food magazine Bon Appetit. “Through Vegas Uncork’d, we’re able to showcase the truly mind-blowing variety of restaurants and chefs that call Las Vegas home, all in one place at one time,” says Colleen Yoshida, senior director of advertising at the LVCVA.
Guy Savoy will lead a multi-course epicurean meal as part of Vegas Uncork'd at Caesars Palace.
Appropriately enough, men’s magazine GQ is the main sponsor for the old-school Master Series: An Evening of Steak and Scotch, featuring Greg and Marc Sherry from the Old Homestead Steakhouse. You may feel a little like Mad Men’s Don Draper while partaking in the selection of scotch whisky from Macallan and four courses of classic Old Homestead dishes, along with what Yoshida calls “the rare opportunity to interact with Greg and Marc Sherry,” whose family has owned Old Homestead for more than 70 years. Connoisseurs of Cantonese cuisine won’t want to miss the Mott 32 Dim Sum Brunch, showcasing offerings from the new Vegas outpost of the Mott 32 Chinese restaurant, located at the Venetian. Named for the address in New York City that gave birth to the city’s Chinatown, the restaurant is a tribute to the history of Chinese food in the U.S. Mott 32 Group Executive Chef Man-Sing Lee curates an exclusive menu for this brunch, pairing unique dishes with wine and signature cocktails. Nobu Matsuhisa is more than just a celebrity chef; he’s a hospitality mogul with a Vegas hotel bearing his name, in addition to his multiple namesake restaurants. Yoshida calls Matsuhisa’s Master Series: Beyond the Blade event a “fan favorite,” and that makes sense for a chef with a global fan base. Those fans will get to interact closely with their idol as he presents a lunch of sushi, sake and more. May 10, Nobu, Caesars Palace
The centerpiece of Uncork’d, this year and every year, is the Grand Tasting, a massive foodie paradise that encompasses dozens of dishes from more than 50 of the world’s greatest chefs spread across five acres at Caesars Palace’s Garden of the Gods Pool Oasis. If you can only attend one Uncork’d event, this is the one to pick, the chance to experience all of Vegas’ culinary wonders in one location over one night. May 10, Garden of the Gods, Caesars Palace
Guy Savoy has certainly earned the title of Master, and one of the world’s greatest chefs will take guests through one of his renowned multi-course meals at the Master Series: The World’s Best, An Epicurean Affair. Savoy’s eponymous restaurant is one of the most-awarded eateries in Las Vegas, and his restaurant in Paris has literally been named the best in the world multiple times. This special meal will tell the story of Savoy’s career through the dishes he serves. May 11, Guy Savoy, Caesars Palace
And now for something completely different: Food can and should be fun, too, and that’s why over-the-top Vegas variety show Absinthe has joined the Uncork’d lineup. Attendees at Absinthe Uncork’d - Get Lit with Gazillionaire Under the Absinthe Electric Oak will join uncouth Absinthe impresario the Gazillionaire for a selection of appetizers and cocktails (including some with, of course, absinthe) before taking in the freewheeling show that has become a beloved Vegas institution. May 11, Absinthe Tent, Caesars Palace
