Owning a Formula 1 Champion’s timepiece won’t make you any faster. Still, it will give you classic style in the case of Michael Schumacher’s rare watch collection, coming to Christie’s bidding block on May 13.
The F1 racer is a legend. He won his first Drivers’ Championship in 1994 for Bennetton and five consecutive titles from 2000 to 2004 with Ferrari. He won two more titles before retiring in 2006, though he returned from 2010 to 2012 to reprise his racing skills with Mercedes.
His style and taste have always been top-notch, and this auction celebrates the 30th anniversary of his first Championship win by revealing his exceptional collection—two of which were custom-made.
His contributions are part of the greater Rare Watch collection, including many timeless treasures.
“What an exciting moment it is for all of us at Christie’s to share these masterpieces of horology with passionate collectors around the globe,” says Rémi Guillemin, Christie’s Head of Watches Europe and the U.S. “We are thrilled to present these iconic and unique timepieces belonging to one of the most celebrated Formula 1 legends of all time, and we invite collectors and fans to personally view and experience these watches in Taiwan and New York ahead of our final preview and auction of the collection on May 13th in Geneva.”
