Step into summertime with smooth and soft skin. Not all hair removal methods are equal. These insider beauty tips that European Wax Center's education manager Gina Petak shared will have you living in your best summer skin.
What makes waxing the best hair removal solution?
It provides long lasting results. You only need to wax every three to four weeks [which gives] you back more time in your day, week and life. Plus, with waxing hair is removed from the root so every time you wax the hair will grow back softer and finer.
Can you provide some guidance on best wax appointment preparations?
If you are going to exfoliate skin before, please use a film free, meaning it rinses clean off the skin not leaving it coated in oil, exfoliant 24-48 hours before your wax. We recommend EWC TREAT™ Face & Body Exfoliating Gel as it’s non-abrasive and contains our exclusive formula to help calm, nourish and restore skin.
Can you provide guidance on post wax appointment care?
There are ways to slow hair growth while you’re between waxing visits. EWC’s Slow™ Collections include products that contain our Hair Growth Minimizer. This technology helps visibly slow the regrowth of hair between waxes. One ingredient we use in particular is Narcissus Tazetta Bulb Extract, which aids in attacking the regrowth of hair at the root. To prevent ingrown hairs post-wax, we recommend using EWC’s Treat™ Ingrown Hair Wipes or EWC’s Treat™ Ingrown Hair Serum, a fan favorite!
How can people wax during the summer yet have their hair grow out long enough to wax?
We recommend hair be at least ¼” long (about the size of a sprinkle) so it’s a good idea to stop shaving at least five days prior to your waxing reservation. You will have to grow your hair out a few days prior to waxing however your hair will grow back finer, softer and less noticeable which will keep you summer ready at all times!

Any tips on how to manage the hair grow out stage during summertime?
A consistent waxing schedule when combined with the proper aftercare, such as our EWC’s Slow™ Collection, can slow the regrowth of hair. The hair minimizing ingredients in our formulas work by slowing hair re-growth at the root.
Are there any other benefits aside from obviously less body hair that waxing offers?
Another big bonus for waxing is that if you have curves or work out on men and women, hairs can easily be missed with other forms of hair removal. With waxing our guests come to see an expert who will ensure all hair is removed.
Waxing saves you time in your busy day so instead of spending every day on other hair removal methods you only need to wax every three to four weeks. Waxing causes the hair to grow back thinner, softer and less noticeable
Are there health benefits or skin benefits?
Waxing exfoliates the skin, removing lifeless surface cells. In other words, waxing will give you the smoothest skin and the smoothest experience.
What kind of wax does EWC use and what makes it better than others in the market?
European Wax Center uses an exclusively developed, hard stripless Comfort WaxTM. It’s gentle on the skin and goes on warm. This wax is specifically designed to make waxing more comfortable.
How does the experience with EWC stand out from other?
European Wax Center utilizes a special four step process and our specialists are trained in creating the most comfortable experience for our guests. Our wax and techniques are also designed for the fastest and most efficient use of time so you will be in for your service and out feeling confident in no time! EWC’s own proprietary products and Comfort Wax® [set us apart as well as our] private waxing suites, our crisp, clean environment and the most professionally trained estheticians in the industry.
Should sun exposure be avoided before or after waxing?
Yes, waxing removes dead skin cells and exfoliates the skin. It is best to wait 24-48 hours after waxing to go in the sun. If you are going to be in the sun ensure [that] you are using a non-comedogenic sunscreen that won’t clog pores or cause breakouts. We recommend our Aloe Daily Sunscreen with SPF 30.
What are the guidelines on chlorine and or salt water pools with waxing?
Your skin may be a little more sensitive after your wax because pores are open after waxing. Since pores are open, we don’t recommend working out or going in any pools, oceans or lakes immediately after waxing as this can lead to skin irritation.
