True to form, the Bad Boy Records founder and his vodka of choice, Ciroc, are commemorating the Mayweather-Pacquiao fight with nothing less than a series of over-the-top celebrations and a summer-ready signature cocktail.
This weekend, Ciroc Vodka will celebrating the Fight of the Century with a Vegas takeover spearheaded by the brand’s most visible ambassador, Sean Combs, who’ll touch down to host a massive pool party at SLS Las Vegas’ Foxtail Pool Club during the day on Saturday, as well as a post-fight bash inside the Tropicana’s Havana Room just a few hours later.
We spoke to Dia Simms, president of Combs Wine & Spirits, about Ciroc’s involvement in the Mayweather-Pacquiao fight and The Champ, a new signature cocktail the brand has debuted to mark the occasion.
What’s the motivation behind Ciroc’s involvement with the Mayweather-Pacquiao fight?
DIA SIMMS: Ciroc is a brand that stands for celebration and embraces cultural moments. We focus on celebrating true artistry and those who are passionate about what they do. […] You can feel the excitement around the whole country. We love when everyone comes together in one place to galvanize and celebrate.
Which of Ciroc’s events should we absolutely not miss this weekend?
DS: If you plan to attend only one event this weekend, definitely show up for the Sports Illustrated fight weekend pool party at Foxtail Pool Club. The event will be hosted by the ultimate master of ceremonies, Puff Daddy, and serves as Ciroc’s official kickoff to their summer pool party series. It’s the perfect one-two punch—Ciroc cocktails and a guaranteed great time.
Who came up with The Champ cocktail recipe?
DS: Sean Combs actually came up with the recipe himself! Ciroc Vodka is our champion, and he wanted the cocktail to represent the essence of what the weekend is all about: finding the winning recipe to an effortless victory. The cocktail recipe is simple: Ciroc Vodka and lemon-lime soda. Confident and classic—the perfect definition of a champion.
1.5 oz. Ciroc Vodka
3 oz. lemon-lime soda
