The reimagining comes from the contemporary brand by Parisian fashion house Mason Margiela. The avant-garde label is the mastermind behind fashion’s most controversial, but beloved shoe: the split-toe Tabi.
Available starting Nov. 19, the MM6 Maison Margiela x Dr. Martens collection marries the two brands’ twin mission to subvert tradition—a fusion of the nonconformist spirit found throughout history in France and the U.K.
This capsule reconstructs four core Dr. Martens designs. Showcasing an MM6 flair, the hybrid silhouettes pull from the original 1460 boot, the extra tall 1490 boot, the 1461 shoe and the Penton loafer.
It first debuted as part of MM6 Maison Margiela’s autumn-winter 2024 show.
For the most quintessential Dr. Marten shoe of the collaboration, consider the 1460-1461 fusion boot. Stamped with a steel toe, it tops the shoe with black Virginia leather and contrasts the bottom half in oxblood vintage smooth leather.
Alternatively, the 1461-Penton shoe offers a chic academic silhouette. Oxblood pops above the black vintage smooth leather on the stylish loafer. Meanwhile, the extra tall 1490/1461 boot finds power in a black-on-black colorway—save for the signature chain stitch—and features contrasting Virginia and vintage smooth leathers.
Alongside the yellow welt stitch, each boot is set on classic DMS soles and comes embossed with an AirWair heel loop and MM6 numeric artwork. So whether you’re dressing to impress or just trying to keep your feet warm through winter, these shoes have you covered.
The MM6 Maison Margiela x Dr. Martens will be available in a limited number of stores and on both brands’ websites.
