Due to unforeseen health circumstances, Celine Dion must delay the opening of her performances at Resorts World Theatre.
“I’m heartbroken by this,” Dion said. “My team and I have been working on our new show for the past eight months, and to not be able to open this November saddens me beyond words.
The slate of shows was set to begin on Nov. 5, with performances running through Nov. 20, followed by another set of dates Jan. 19 to Feb. 5 2022.
“My partners at Resorts World Las Vegas and AEG have been working around the clock to get this brand-new state-of-the-art theatre ready, and it’s absolutely beautiful,” Dion said. “I feel so bad that I’m letting them down, and I’m especially sorry for disappointing all the fans who’ve been making their plans to come to Las Vegas. Now, I have to focus on getting better… I want to get through this as soon as I can.”
The decision to pause the shows comes as a result of Dion experiencing severe and persistent muscle spasms that prevent her from performing. Though her medical team continues to evaluate and treat the singer, the symptoms keep her from being able to do rehearsals.
“Celine is family to us, and the most important thing now is for her to focus on feeling better,” said John Meglen, president and co-CEO of concerts west/AEG Presents. “In our two-decade long relationship with Celine, we’ve certainly learned how dedicated and resilient she is, and that she is most happy when she’s on stage doing what she loves most, performing for her fans. We’re ready to announce new Las Vegas show dates whenever Celine is ready.”
Fans getting ready to journey to Las Vegas can expect an automatic refund from AXS or Resorts World Las Vegas if they purchased tickets by credit card, which could take up to 30 days. Those who purchased from non-authorized sellers will have to reach out directly to the original point of purchase.
At the moment, new show dates have yet to be scheduled. However, as soon as new performances are locked down, ticket holders of the canceled performances will receive a pre-sale opportunity for first access to purchase tickets. When the time comes, updates can be found at the resort and Dion’s websites.
Dion’s Courage World Tour is still set to kick off on March 9, 2022. Though she does not have a Nevada date, Dion will make stops at Ball Arena in Colorado and Vivint Smart Home Arena in Utah, among other venues.
