Vegas might be best known as the land of the drive-through wedding, but the city also offers plenty of romantic places to pop the question. Here, we round up some of our favorite proposal spots around town.
Popping the question while drifting over the Grand Canyon in a private EC130 helicopter might not appeal to everyone, but if you’re the adventurous type, Papillon’s four-hour Grand Celebration tour is the only way to go. Departing from Vegas, you’ll pass iconic sites like the Hoover Dam and Grand Wash Cliffs before descending more than 4,000 feet below the Grand Canyon’s West Rim for a Champagne picnic overlooking the Colorado River. On the way back, you’ll enjoy spectacular views of the Strip—especially if you opt for Papillon’s sunset flight, which includes dazzling panoramas of Vegas’s after-hours glow. 1265 Airport Road, Boulder City,702-638-3300
One of the highlights of Alain Ducasse’s recent revamp of his old Mix space, perched on the 64th floor of Delano Las Vegas, is Skyfall, a sleek, sexy lounge adjacent to the chef’s new restaurant concept Rivea. If you’re going for a more organic proposal, finish off dinner with nightcaps and tiramisu on Skyfall’s patio, which offers a prime 180-degree view of the Strip that’s considered among the best panoramas in Vegas, and prepare to launch the surprise of a lifetime. 3940 S. Las Vegas Blvd., 877-632-5400
If you still haven’t made the short trip out to Lake Las Vegas, now’s your chance. The resort’s Italian-inspired MonteLago Village houses restaurants like the award-winning Marssa(101 MonteLago Blvd., Henderson, 702-567-6125), located inside the Westin, as well as a variety of boutiques, spas, and even a marina. Consider popping the question during one of Gondola Adventures’ two-hour dinner cruises, which can be enhanced with romantic touches like rose petals, chocolates, and personalized messages in bottles (41 Costa di Lago, Henderson, 855-466-3652).
When it comes to iconic Vegas proposal spots, the enduring popularity of Bellagio’s Lago di Como—and its famous fountain show—can’t be disputed. The lake became such a go-to location for couples looking to take the next step that Bellagio debuted the $1,000 Terrazza di Sogno package, an experience that includes private time on one of the resort’s Mediterranean-style balconies, long-stemmed roses, champagne, and gourmet chocolates, among other romantic accents. 3600 S. Las Vegas Blvd., 702-693-7700
Prefer some distance from Bellagio’s fountains? Set up shop across the street inside Paris Las Vegas’s Eiffel Tower Restaurant. Pairing one of the most spectacular views on the Strip with a classically French menu, this lavish eatery on the hotel’s 11th floor is beloved for its romantic appeal—so much so, in fact, that its staff has developed a range of proposal packages that include window-front seating at tables with some of the best sightlines for couples on the verge of engagement. 3655 S. Las Vegas Blvd., 702-948-6937
The Lake of Dreams at Wynn Las Vegas offers an even more intimate environment for proposals, especially at night, when the space’s 40-foot waterfall comes alive with more that 4,000 lights, holographics, and life-size puppets. We recommend grabbing a pre-dinner cocktail at Parasol Down(3131 S. Las Vegas Blvd., 702-770-3392), the resort’s jewel-toned bar decorated with colorful illuminated lanterns, then heading into SW Steakhouse(3131 S. Las Vegas Blvd., 702-770-3325) for a meal with a full view of the show.
A highlight of the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area, the 520-acre Spring Mountain Ranch State Park overflows with stunning outdoor wonders ranging from wildflower-covered fields and woodlands to a body of water, Lake Harriet. A far cry from the rest of the Vegas landscape (although you’ll still find some traditional hallmarks of the desert climate, like Joshua trees and Mojave yucca), the historic ranch’s grounds are the perfect backdrop for a laid-back afternoon picnic followed by a proposal. 6375 Nevada 159, 702-875-1909
