On Nov. 7, the Baller Dream Foundation will commemorate their organization with a special afternoon and the gifting of two special Las Vegas Ballers.
The Baller Dream Foundation is a nonprofit that works to lift the spirits of young cancer warriors, aged up to 25 years old. It all started when founder Frank DeBlasi was diagnosed with testicular cancer at age 29. After fighting to be cancer-free, DeBlasi worked to fulfill his self-promise of opening a foundation for young people with cancer. Knowing how fortunate he was to have a wonderful support network of family and friends, DeBlasi and team ensure the same for young cancer warriors that might not have that support available. Baller Dream recognizes that emotional and daily-living assistance is critical.
The Baller Dream Foundation calls the young people served by their organization not “patients,” but “ballers” as a way to signal their resiliency, courage and control. Across the country, BDF eases the minds of ballers and their families by facilitating in-hospital, volunteer-led activities and major life experiences. The relationship between BDF and baller is something that lasts through treatment and remission to forge a path to a stronger life.
The November event takes place at the home of Jan Jones Blackhurst from 3-5:30 p.m. (just in time to make it home to watch the Raiders-Knights game). Kicking off with a welcome at 3 p.m., the baller ceremony with DeBlasi begins at 4 p.m. and refreshments and New American-Mediterranean bites will be provided by Vintner Grill.
Sponsorship opportunities provide access to the event. Four event tickets run for $2,500 (“Star”), eight tickets for $5,000 (“Baller”) and 10 for $10,000 (“Dream Presenting Sponsor”). All proceeds go toward programs, gifts and experiences by the Baller Dream Foundation and all sponsor names will be recognized on a display at the event.
Recently, BDF brought on its first ever executive director for Las Vegas, Page Maddux. A native to the city, Maddux brings with her over five years of experience as the director of philanthropy of Rady Children’s Hospital in San Diego, Calif.
