Perched in a palazzo on the Grand Canal, Aman Venice offers a royal retreat for art lovers and culture vultures to soak in the floating city.
The Aman Venice property regally resides in the 16th century Palazzo Papadopoli on the Grand Canal.
Regulars of Aman properties might always expect the exemplary service and ultraluxe lodging the brand is known for, yet Aman Venice allows access to a rarefied experience truly fit for a doge. Outfitted with a museumworthy collection of rococo paintings and other works by more contemporary artists like Wallace Chan (whose work is currently on display through October), the property resides in the 16th century Palazzo Papadopoli, one of the city's most historic structures. The palazzo was once home to 18th century painter Tiepolo, and his frescoes appear in many of the rooms today. Two private gardens created by the Papadopoli family remain as some of Venice's rarest private gardens. Each of the 24 rooms and suites is decorated by Jean-Michel Gathy with historically sensitive appointments.
Featuring frescoes by 18th century painter Tiepolo, the Stanza del Tiepolo is the hotel’s elegant game room complete with chess and backgammon boards.
Private guided tours available through the hotel allow further entree into the art and history of Venice. The Palazzo Ducale Tour grants access to hidden corners of the ninth century palazzo via a special private visit after closing and the crowds have left. On the Secret Architecture Tour, an experienced guide leads guests on a walking tour, while the Private Artisans Tour explores the work of the Bevilacqua weaving workshop and Orsoni ateliers to witness the production of 24K gold-leaf mosaics.
Accessed by private elevator, the three-bedroom Coccina’s Apartment features sweeping views of the Grand Canal and opulent painted ceilings and works by Italian masters.
For those who wish to explore via the city's iconic waterways, a bespoke boat tour travels to the little-known Venetian Lagoon and remote islands including La Certosa, Sant'Erasmo and Murano, the epicenter of the artisanal glass blowing industry since 1291. Bird-watching, serene monasteries and contemporary architecture tours ensure there is something for everyone in your royal entourage to enrich the experience.
