Former pro tennis player, hockey wife, supermom and The Latte Co. (thelatteco.com) co-founder Katia Pacioretty dishes on life and her quest for the best.
What was it like growing up as an athlete? I became a professional tennis player when I was 14. I was so young, and I feel like I’ve lived so many lives because I’ve played tournaments all over the world. Now I’m living a totally different life with four boys under the age of 5. I trained six to seven hours a day, but nothing is as hard as being a mother.
How did it prepare you for where you are now? Being an athlete gave me patience and more understanding. It’s easier to support [my husband] Max because I know what it’s like.
Is that why you took an interest in nutrition? It was a big part of it, but it became more so when I had kids. It became almost an obsession for me where everything that I gave to my kids had to be the best.
Why did you and your business partners develop an organic, plant-based baby formula? When I stopped breastfeeding, I was looking for formulas and nothing met my standards.
And the rest is history? It took us more than two years to develop. We took the best of the best without cutting any corners, and now we get emails every day with people thanking us. It’s very rewarding.
