The AntiGravity Yoga workout area at Shine Alternative Fitness
While you may never dangle from a trapeze using only the strength in your pinky toe, you can get a taste of a typical Cirque du Soleil workout courtesy of Shine Alternative Fitness.
Founded by current Zumanity performer Dima Shine and the show’s assistant company manager Russ Petroni, Shine teaches classes that incorporate aerial arts, dance, kickboxing, and Gyrokinesis inside its 4,000 square-foot studio at Loft Works.
What won’t you find? Treadmills. What will you find? A plethora of 60 to 90 minute classes (think ballet, pole fitness, Gyrotonic, and Zumba) taught by Shine’s fellow Cirque performers.
Classes run from 8 to 10 PM daily and seek to improve everything from strength to balance to flexibility. Enroll for the AntiGravity Yoga class, one of the more specialty offerings at Shine, where you’ll be challenged to do advanced yoga poses while suspended in the air in a silk hammock. 6415 S.
