A Stitch in Time
Oscar Wilde once said,“Fashion is a form of ugliness so intolerable that we have to alter it every six months.” For those of us who get to work in the incredible world of fashion journalism, it is anything but ugly; it’s a form of expression, it’s art and it’s transcendent. Most importantly, fashion is built on reinvention.
As fashion takes the spotlight this spring, names like Diane von Furstenberg, Hermès, Christian Dior, Tom Ford, Hervé Léger, Christian Louboutin and Prada are just a handful of the myriad designers who continue to inspire creativity and style, and we couldn’t be more enthusiastic to see their names inscribed on the storefronts of Crystals, The Shoppes at The Palazzo and The Forum Shops at Caesars.
This issue of Vegas magazine celebrates a few of the imaginative, smart (and stylish!) people who have been an integral part of reinventing our fabulous city. Whether it’s Bill McBeath, Jodi Myers, Brandon Ring or Wayne Newton, our citizens have helped put Las Vegas in the national forefront of architecture, hospitality, entertainment, dining and nightlife. Speaking of nightlife—this month the Nightclub & Bar Conference will be in town celebrating the very best in the industry. Powerhouses like Pure Management Group, The Light Group, Tao Group and N9NE Group are raising the bar on a global scale, outperforming the standard nightclub experience every day of the year.
One thing that never goes out of style is giving back, so I would be remiss if I didn’t mention such luminaries as Stephen Cloobeck, chairman of the board of the Nevada Cancer Institute, who is leading the charge with the great work they do, both locally and nationally. Or how about Larry Ruvo, whose dedication and determination in the field of medical research cultivated the partnership between Cleveland Clinic and the Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health, right in our own backyard?
As I take on my new role at Greenspun Media Group, I embrace the opportunity to continue to introduce you to the many amazing people who shape and bring style to our community.
Ciao!
