February 19, 2013

Luxury publisher Assouline will soon add an illustrious new title to its shelves at Crystals at CityCenter—one of only three Assouline bookstores in the country. Cataloguing the top tier of everything from cars to fashion, “The Impossible,” releases its newest edition—a collector’s item—on March 1 in The Impossible Collection of Jewelry ($695), also part of the Assouline Ultimate Collection. With text by jewelry historian Vivienne Becker, the hand-bound, 168-page book chronicles the 100 most important pieces from the last century. Available in limited edition with a linen clamshell case, it’s a must-have for any serious jewelry collector.
Covering a range of iconic jewelry designers, including Van Cleef & Arpels, Graff, Tiffany & Co., and Cartier, each jewel is brought to life with beautiful photographs and intimate detail. Pieces range from jaw dropping to timeless, but all are sparkling reminders of designer jewelry visionaries. Carefully curated, the 100 pieces featured stand out for their design, and the story behind them. A flip through the book's pages reveals dripping diamond necklaces, brooches covered in precious stones, rings the size of rocks, ranging in hundreds of carats, and even a nearly 53-carat Bulgari sapphire and diamond pendant that belonged to Elizabeth Taylor.
